Recently, the company's top executive a key figure informed employees about this strategic move through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had shown the necessity for a more defined vision.
The president noted that the developers is now overhauling Project Ethos with a refreshed approach, aiming to address community desires.
Trend of Strategic Hires
This announcement follows a similar step taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they hired Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to assist with the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

Dear Team—
I understand you all just completed your town hall - I trust you’re as excited as I am with the good news. Previously I sent you all a note, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this crew. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative developers we have had the opportunity to collaborate with - and we’re eager for that partnership to continue.”
Through your commitment and adaptability, especially over the last year, you continue to prove that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s Project ETHOS testing phase was revealing. It affirmed the appeal of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had work to do. It highlighted the need for a sharper brand.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You accepted the feedback to heart and overhauled Project ETHOS with a revitalized vision - one that’s positioned to achieve its ambition to our players.
The trust in this project increases every day. To further the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce Ben Brinkman as the new Studio Head of 31st Union. Following a period of talks, Ben starts with us on the specified date.
His leadership and background in the competitive gaming field is extensive, having devoted the recent years developing and managing some of the most recognizable series in gaming, for example the acclaimed shooter, and lately, the battle royale hit.
Please join me in welcoming him next week. We are all looking forward to persist observing the development of Project ETHOS in the weeks to come.
The President
